Yvonne Irene Frohrib, a beloved mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on July 13, 2026 after a brief illness. She lived a life rich in family, service, and adventure.
Born on June 10, 1929 in Philipsburg, Montana, the first child of Robert and Irene Moore, she was always proud of her Montana and Blackfeet heritage. In 1940, her family moved to Vallejo, California after Bob started working at the shipyard. She graduated from Vallejo High School in 1947.
On May 23, 1948, Yvonne married the love of her life, Melvin "Ed" Frohrib, at Saint Vincent’s Catholic Church in Vallejo. Together they raised four children: Tom, Kathy, Janice, and Dan. They formed a tightly knit family where mutual love and respect was a way of life. Ed retired from Mare Island Naval Shipyard in 1982 and they enjoyed many years together until his passing in 2008.
Yvonne was a dedicated stay-at-home mother for many years, a role she cherished deeply. Later, she served her community for 16 years as a classroom aide for the Vallejo school department, where she specialized in assisting in special education classrooms. Later in life she volunteered as a docent in the Vallejo Museum.
Yvonne was a woman of many talents and passions. An expert seamstress, she sewed everything from baby clothes to wedding gowns. She found great joy in square dancing with the Wagon Wheeler Square Dance Club and spending summers camping at Pogy Point on Lake Pillsbury with family and lifelong friends.
A seasoned traveler, Yvonne visited all 49 continental states and eight Canadian provinces, traveling with Ed in their van and trailer. She also visited Mexico, Europe, China, and the Holy Land among other far-off places.
In September of 2020, her home of 66 years was severely damaged by a fire that was set behind it. After spending several months with her grandson, Dallas, she moved to Bremerton, Washington to live with Kathy and her husband.
She is survived by her four children, Tom Frohrib (Cecelia), Kathy Malley (Tom), Janice Bailey (Greg), and Dan Frohrib (Dmitri); her eight grandchildren; and her ten great-grandchildren. Yvonne will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family and her vibrant spirit of adventure.
