Wilford Hoyett Blain Obituary (1916

WILFORD HOYETT BLAIN Wilford Boyett Blain, at the age of 86, died in the Martha and Mary Health Care Center, Poulsbo, Washington, on March 16, 2003 after a long illness with Alzheimers. Wilford was born in Dublin, Texas, on October 8, 1916, to William Henry Blain and Mary E. Strong Blain. He attended the Dublin High School, in Dublin Texas. He met Bonnie Lou Mitchell and they fell in love and were married on November 11, 1937, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He worked in San Diego, California,for Hazard Materials, as a welder in the concrete plant, until he was injured and he was forced to retire due to the injury. Wilford was very interested in hunting, fishing and camping with the family. While camping he loved to water ski. A love he had over the years was to build model airplanes.. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was also a member of the Mission Bay Sportsmen Club. He received many awards and medals while in the Sportman's Club. He was a longtime member of the Ocean Beach Baptist Church in Ocean Beach, California, for over 38 years. He retained his church membership when he moved up to Washington. Wilford is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Lou, and together they shared nearly 66 years of marriage. His son: Wilford Henry Blain,and his wife Lynda, of Bainbridge Island, Washington. His daughter, Wanda Lou Blain Taylor, and her husband Dave, of Poulsbo, Washington. A brother, Nolan Ralph Blain, and is wife Sue, of Grand Prairie, Texas. His sister: Billie Katherine Miller, of Warner Robins, Georgia. His adoring grandchildren; Nicole Grady, Danielle Grady, Taylor David Mason, Michael John Blain, Shelley Denise Blain, Kimberly Cole and Wesley Blain. Wilford also has 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ted Blain and his sister Juanita Beasley. A Memorial Service for Wilford will be held Saturday, March 22, 2003, at 2:00PM, in the Martha and Mary Health Care Center, 19160 Front Street NE, Poulsbo, Washington. The family is honoring Wilford's request which was to be cremated and scattered over a body of water in the Pacific Northwest. Final arrangements are under the direction of ''The Stone Chapel'', Poulsbo Mortuary, Poulsbo, Washington.
