Virginia Mae Smith
10/28/1931 - 5/7/2013
Virginia Mae Smith passed from the arms of her loving family into the arms of the Lord on May 7th, 2013.
Virginia was born in Hollywood, California in 1931.
She met her beloved husband Bob in Art School at Woodbury College in Los Angeles, and they were married on May 10th, 1952. She was a cherished Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister and Friend.
Virginia, the mother of 6 children; grandmother of 16; and great-grandmother of 10, was married to Bob for nearly 61 years. She and Bob loved welcoming family and friends to their cozy home in North Kitsap.
Virginia was blessed with many gifts, talents and passions. She created colorful quilts, sewed and knitted; danced with the "Boot Scootin' Grannies", and was active in community organizations like Ladies' Aid and the Garden Club. She painted beautiful watercolors and delightful cartoons and nurtured a lush woodland garden of native plants and rhododendrons.
She and Bob raised their children to love camping, boating and beachcombing -sailing the waters of Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands. She loved to travel. She and Bob enjoyed numerous trips in the USA and abroad.
She will be greatly missed by many, more than words could ever express.
A celebration of Virginia's life will take place at 10:00 AM on Sunday, May19th at the Stone Chapel in Poulsbo. Burial of her ashes will follow immediately after, at the Hansville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be pleased if donations were made to Hansville Ladies' Aid at:
