Stephen Kerr

Stephan Lester Kerr, Jr of Belfair passed away January 14, 2026.

Steve was born in Boise, Idaho on August 27, 1928. His family moved
to Bremerton, WA and purchased Kerr Motors. Steve served in the US
Army and was stationed in Port Townsend, Germany and helped open
the Thule, Greenland military base.

Steve graduated from the University of Washington and briefly
worked with Boeing, then had a career as an engineer with the City of
Seattle.

Steve was an avid hiker and climbed many mountains in Washington,
including summiting Mount Rainier. He also twice traveled to Nepal
and climbed to the base camp on Mount Everest. For many years he
worked to maintain trails in the Olympic and Cascade Mountains.

He was preceded in death by his parents Stephan and Henrietta Kerr,
wife Lorraine, and daughter Linda Barcheski. Steve is survived by son
Stephen Kerr, daughter Susan Sanders and grandchildren Sasha and
Kristen Barcheski.
