Stanley K Brooks

Stanley K. Brooks, age 72, of Bremerton died at his home on Wednesday, June 16 from complications from prostate cancer.
He was born in Washington, D.C. to Luster R. and Mary F. (Bonar) Brooks.
He graduated from Fremont County Vocatonal High School in Lander, Wyoming in 1949 and San Diego State College in 1960.
He served in the U.S. Navy from January 1951 to November 1954, andvancing to the rank of petty officer second class. He recieved the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, China Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal.
On June 13, 1953 he married Ruth M. Chapman in Lander, Wyoming.
He worked for 30 years at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, retiring in 1991.
Mr. Brooks participated in Toastmasters, Kitsap County Campers, Round Squares, Boy Scouts of America, Wood Carvers, Kitsap MacIntosh Group, and Kitsap Mineral and Gem Society. He was also an education speaker. He was a member of Lincoln Avenue Bible Church where where he had served as an elder.
Stanley in survived by his wife Ruth at the family home; his son Paul V. Brooks of Grandview, WA; his daughter Mary L. Howard of Beaver Creek, OR; and six grandchildren, Joshua D. Brooks and Sandra P. Wilson both of Kennewick, WA, and Benjamin Howard, Anna Ruth Howard, John William Howard, and Rebekah Hazel Howard all of Beaver Creek, OR.
Viewing and Vistation will be conducted on Monday, June 21, 2004 from 9 am to 6 PM at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Bremerton, WA. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2004 at 11 AM at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Bremerton, WA with a memorial service to follow at Lincoln Avenue Bible Church in Bremerton at 2 PM.
