Rusty "Rick" Stewart Obituary (1954

Rusty 'Rick' Stewart, age 67 passed away on April 30, 2022, at St Michael Medical Center in Silverdale, WA. Rick was born on November 9, 1954 in Los Angeles, CA to William and Elsie (Olivas) Stewart. Rick graduated in 1972 from Aviation High School in Redondo Beach, CA. After graduation Rick joined the Merchant Marines and later retired from the Seafarers International Union. Rick traveled the world and had a love of the ocean, traveling from Iran, to Madagascar, to Maui; Rick was an explorer. Rick had a quick wit, grandiose sense of humor and a laugh that filled a room. Rick is preceded in death by his parents, William and Elsie Stewart, brother Randall Stewart and nephew Sam Stewart. Rick is survived by his seven children, Delfina Herrera ( Los Angeles, CA), Antonette Herrera ( Los Angeles, CA), Isaac Herrera(Los Angeles, CA), Brooks Stewart ( Los Angeles, CA), Dax Stewart( Los Angeles, CA), Nicholas Vasquez-Stewart(San Diego, CA), and Madison Vasquez-Stewart(Maui, HI); brother Robin (Mike) Stewart ;grandchildren Gabe, Sophia, Titus, Ethan and Dominik; great- grandchild Aurelio and great-nephew Aidan. Although Rick spent the last 20 years living in Poulsbo with his brother Mike, he felt a connection to Maui, Hawaii. In lieu of services, Rick's family will spread his ashes in Maui. Rick, wherever you have landed we hope you found peace. "We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch - we are going back from whence we came."
