RADM Robert F. Burt, 65, of Silverdale, WA passed away on January 27, 2014. He had been battling multiple-myeloma off and on for almost 8 years. Bob was born on March 1, 1948 in Eugene, Oregon, to Delno (deceased) and Edna Burt. He graduated from Thurston High School in Springfield, OR where he played on the football, basketball and baseball teams. He went on to Eugene Bible College where he met and then later married his wife, Evelyn Maryott, from Seattle, WA in 1968. They were blessed with 45 wonderful years together!

In 1970 Bob joined the enlisted ranks of the US Navy and then in 1977 he was honorably discharged from the Navy in order to continue his education at Western Evangelical Seminary and earn his Master of Divinity degree enabling him to come back into the Navy as an Officer and Chaplain. He served 29 years as a Chaplain and completed his service as Chief of Navy Chaplains. A total of 36 years serving our great country!

Family was important to Bob and he was especially proud of his daughters, Lisa (Brian) Danskin and Leanne (Jeremy) Johnson and their families. He had five grandchildren: Richie (Kylie), Richelle and Riley Danskin, Janaya and Sydney Johnson. Bob enjoyed life to the full! He was a loving and caring man who left a legacy behind him of pride for his God, family and country! He earned many prestigious awards in his military career. In retirement, he was honored by Naval Base Kitsap Bangor Chapel naming the Fellowship Hall after him. He also received the highest honor his denomination presents to anyone, the Frank W. Smith award given out only every 2 years. A listing of his military honors can be found at www.navy.mil and search Robert Burt.

Bob played a variety of sports in his lifetime and thoroughly enjoyed following a number of them including, football (Go Seahawks! Go Ducks!), basketball, baseball, and golf. He loved spending time with his family. Other interests he had was traveling, reading, listening to music, watching movies and shopping!--oh yes, he could outshop just about anybody I knew! He enjoyed collecting many things.

Bob is preceded in death by his dad; brother, John and sister, Patty.

His memory will live on with his sister Sherry Woodruff, of Salem, OR, and his mother Edna Burt of Springfield, OR, and multitudes of other family members and friends. He was loved by many!
