Richard 'Pete' Pederson Obituary (1941

Pete was born on May 11, 1941 and passed away after a long battle with cancer on March 21, 2018. He was born in Madison, Minnesota to Oscar Pederson and Juliana Bunker where he spent the first 14 years of his life. His family moved to Renton, Washington in 1955. And he graduated from Renton High School in 1959. He attended college for a time at Eastern Washington and Everett Community College followed by 2 years in the Army in Alaska. In 1964 he married Marie Bartsch and moved to Poulsbo, where they owned and operated Pete's Tavern . They had two daughters, Jan and Jo, but later divorced. Pete served on Planning and Zoning and was a member of the Poulsbo City Council in the 70s. He joined the Poulsbo Volunteer Fire Department in 1965. In 1983 he married Bonnie Wright and was married almost 34 years before his death. He worked for Fred Hill Materials for 25 years as a mixer truck driver. After retiring in 1996 he started the Bramble Patch Berry Farm, growing berries, fruit and eggs for the farmers market and making concrete stepping stones and garden art up until the time he became ill two years ago. He loved hiking, backpacking, cross country skiing and traveling to Hawaii and Alaska, often with the "Six Pack" of dear friends. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Pederson, daughters, Jan Marie Tronrud (John) of Skagway, Alaska and Jo Pederson of Poulsbo. Three step children, David Fricke of Poulsbo and Mike Fricke and Cathy Fricke of Suquamish. He has three grandchildren, Derrick Fricke of Poulsbo Molly Fricke of Suquamish Donna Fricke of Bainbridge Island and 6 grandchildren by marriage. Also survived by his Brother Dennis Pederson (Gerri) of Arizona, James (Stephanie) Pederson of Mukiteio Wa. , Ruth Wright of Renton and David Pederson(Marj) of Pt. Ludlow. And many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Mother and Father. A celebration of his life will be held over his birthday weekend, Saturday, May 12th at 2pm, at Knowles Studio 20432 Noll Road, Poulsbo.
