Ret. Master Chief Donald L. Teece Obituary (1929

Passed on 8-13-2024 at his home in Bremerton. He was born in Kewanee Illinois 3-17-1929 and had 5 sisters and 2 brothers. He entered the Navy in 1950 and began a career that he loved for 30 years. He married Leona and had 2 children, David (Connie) & Diane. He traveled the world and was stationed in 6 different countries, his last being Keyport where he retired in 1980. Don married the love of his life Virginia (Ginger) in 1980 and continued to work at Keyport for Pan Am and then Johnson Controls retiring a 2nd time. Don & Ginger enjoyed traveling to Europe and all around the US in their 5th wheel, finally becoming "snowbirds" in Mesa Ariz. They spent 1/2 the year for 29 years at their park where Don helped put on the Casino night, Fish fry and was Santa for many years for the yearly kid's party. He was an avid golfer and softball player and you could usually find him playing cards every night at the club house. He could tell you stats on the Seahawks and loved watching them play. He could often be heard bragging about his grandkids, who he took great pride in! You would always see him wearing his "Master Chief" Navy baseball hat, and if anyone asked, he'd be happy to tell them how much he loved his time in the Navy! He could talk to anyone, and often did! He will be missed by many, his son & step-kids who thought of him with much love, John (Sue) Mike (Cheryl) Lynn (Dewey) and grand kids, Roger(Kayla), Brett(Tamara), Kyle(Ashley), Amanda, and great-grandkids, Morgan, Ethaniel, Elijah, Brooklyn, Jameson, Emmett, Bobby, Abby, Mason. He was preceded in death by his grandsons Ryan & Todd, who will be waiting for him at the gates for hugs! In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made to Wounded Warriors or Kitsap Hospice. A funeral service and public viewing will be held at Lewis Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, August 27th at 11:00am with a reception to immediately follow.
