Ree Amelia Whallon Obituary (1923

Ree Amelia Whallon passed away on Jan. 30, 2012 in Bremerton, WA at the age of 88. Ree was born on Oct. 10, 1923 in Oxbow Saskatchewan Canada to Leona Reed (Haack). She graduated from Lignite High School in Lignite, ND. On July 7, 1945 she married her beloved husband William R. Whallon in Bremerton. They were married for 64 years until William's passing on April 17, 2010. Ree worked as a nurse for Harrison Hospital in the 40's, Operator for the MERC in the 1950's and was the activity room director for Belmont Terrace Nursing Home in the late 1960's and early 1970's. She was the co-founder of Kitsap County Needle Arts Guild. Ree enjoyed knitting, crocheting and needlework. She is preceded in death by her mother, husband William, sister Loy Jorstad, brothers; Ben, Lester and Bob Reed. Treasuring her memory are her son Daniel Whallon (Zola) of Bremerton and her grandsons Billy and Jeff who she adored. A visitation will take place on Fri. Feb. 3 at 2:30pm followed by a memorial service at 3:00pm at Lewis Funeral Chapel with a reception to follow. Memorial donations can be made to The American Cancer Society.
