Miguel Vicente Romo Obituary (1933

Miguel Vicente (Vince) Romo, a resident of Olalla, Washington, passed away on July 17, 2024, at the age of 90 at his home in Olalla, Washington. Miguel was born on December 14, 1933, in Mora, New Mexico to Miguel Antonio and Delfina Romo (Albeyta). He graduated from Mora High School in Mora, New Mexico. Miguel worked for the Army National Guard, the US Marines and RTS Painting before retiring. Miguel served in the US Marines for 3 years and in the Army for 31 years, achieving the rank of SR. S.F.C. He worked for them as an Armament /Maintenance Control Supervisor and Air Defense Artillery Sr Sgt at 185th Ordinance, Camp Murray in Tacoma, Washington. He also received many awards during his time in service including the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal 2nd Award, Air Force Combat Action Medal 3rd Award, Good Conduct Medal 6th Award, Unit Citation, among several others. He married his wife Shirley Ann Romo on February 2, 1957, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Miguel was a member of the Back Country Horsemen of Washington, Olympic Chapter and enjoyed family, raising and riding horses, camping, fishing, sports, playing guitar and harmonica, cutting firewood and dancing. Miguel is survived by his sons Jack Romo of Port Orchard, Washington, Jim Romo of Westport, Washington and Randy Romo of Port Orchard, Washington, brother Luis Romo of Port Orchard, Washington, sisters Cleofas (Cleo) Romo of Las Vegas, New Mexico and Delfina (Pauline) Romo of Santa Fe, New Mexico as well as three grandchildren, Tanner Romo, Hayley Romo and Lauren Brewer. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Ann Romo, parents Miguel A. and Delfina Romo, brother Pablo Romo and sisters Isabel Romo, Donicia (Nicia) Romo, Eliza Romo and Nieves (Dolores) Romo. There will be funeral mass and viewing at St. Gabriels in Port Orchard, Washington on August 2, 2024, viewing at 10am and mass will begin at 11am, followed by a graveside service at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Bremerton, Washington around 1pm.
