Maryann Spires

In celebration of a life well-lived, we remember Maryann Frances Spires, a charismatic spirit, a courageous soul, and a pillar of strength to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Born on March 28, 1942, in Belle Fourche, SD, Maryann was a woman of great character who touched many lives and left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Her radiant smile and quick wit endeared her to all, and her dedicated and creative nature was an inspiration.

Maryann was a loving mother, a devoted wife, and a loyal friend. She was known for her ability to multitask, often engaging in a lively conversation, reading a book on her Kindle, and cheering on her beloved Mariners Baseball team simultaneously. Her dedication shone through in her professional life as well, where she served as a Transportation Supervisor for the Federal Government. She was a respected colleague and a true team player, ever ready to lend a hand or offer a word of encouragement.

Family and friends were the cornerstone of Maryann's life. She was the proud mother of Katherine Gray, Thomas Gray, John Gray, and Mark Spires, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Her parents, Thomas and Katherine DiMercurio, and her spouse, James Spires, preceded her in death, and their love and memories continue to live on in her heart.

In the words of Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Maryann's legacy of love, courage, and dedication will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Maryann’s life will be celebrated at Lewis Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, 19 May 2026 at 11:00am PDT, and a Graveside Service will follow at 1:00pm PDT at Twin Firs Cemetery. For those who cannot attend in person, a live stream will be available at https://my.gather.app/remember/maryann-spires.
