–

Bremerton, Washington

Marilyn Virginia (Martin) Adair passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2026, with her husband John by her side. Marilyn loved life, her family, and her many friends. She was in turn loved by the many people who were part of her life. She was a devoted wife and companion to John and a loving and caring mother to her daughter LaRae. She will be remembered for her smile, her love of Jesus, and her love of others. Over the fifty-six years of their marriage Marilyn and John made their home in many interesting locations around the United States, including Montana, Maine, and Southern California, before settling in Bremerton, Washington, where they retired in 2006. Marilyn and John joined the Bremerton Yacht Club where they kept their 42-foot trawler "Pacific Star" and enjoyed cruising Puget Sound, including the San Juans, Canadian Islands, and north to Desolation Sound. Together they fished Seiku, catching salmon limits, and shrimping off Bainbridge Island. She joined the BYC Skipperettes, becoming president in 2009. Marilyn enjoyed hobbies including sewing, stained glass, and growing weeds in her garden. Marilyn was born on September 15, 1945 in Great Falls, Montana, the second of seven children. She was a graduate of Great Falls High School (1963), Antelope Valley College, and the University of Redlands, graduating in business administration. She started her work life as a switchboard operator for the telephone company in Great Falls and later held a variety of positions with other employers, culminating in program management for the Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards AFB, California. Marilyn was a member of Central Kitsap Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon, before becoming a member of Silverdale Lutheran. Marilyn is survived by her husband John and daughter LaRae Adair, sister Laura (Aimi), and brothers Alan, David, and Lacey. She was preceded in death by her parents L. Brock Martin and Virginia (Graves) Martin, sister Dennis (Nicholson), and brother Brandon. A memorial service will be conducted at the Silverdale Lutheran Church at a date and time to be announced later.
