Major, Harvey R. Hegstrom, USMC (ret.) Obituary (1943

Major, Harvey R. Hegstrom, USMC (ret.) passed away on March 3, 2005. He was 61 years of age. Harvey was born to Harvey R. and Sarah (Stephensen) Hegstrom on September 13, 1943 in Ogden, UT. He graduated from Bonneville High School in Ogden, Ut, as well as, Weber State University with a degree in Manufacturing Engineering. He also graduated from flight school in Pensacola, FL. Harvey served in the Marine Corps from 1967-1987 and achieved the rank of Major. He attained numerous awards during his service. On November 11, 1979 Harvey married Carol Smith in Las Vegas, NV. Harvey also worked for L3 Communication Systems as director of special programs in Salt Lake City, UT. He worked with L3 for 16 years. Harvey was an artist and designer, woodworker and traveler. He loved his family and was a fantastic husband, marvelous father, grandfather, devoted brother, and was a good friend to all who knew him. Harvey was of the Christian faith. Harvey is surived by his wife Carol of Port Ludlow, WA; sons, Joshua (Denise) of West Jordan, UT, Noah of Mission Viejo, CA, Glen Bennett (Lisa) of Hanford, CA, Dave Bennett (Margo) of San Jose, CA, Bill Bennett (Stephanie) of Minneapolis, MN; daughters, Hillary Wallace (Kevin) of Ogden, UT, MaKenzie Helfer (Christian) of Lake Forest, CA; sisters, Lucille Miller (Lewis) of St. George, UT, Louise Coleman (Gary) of Las Vegas, NV, and Karen Manning (Bart) of Hooper, UT; 8 grandchildren, Michelle, Shelby, Owen, James, Remington, Jordan, Jack, and Porter. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Beckett. A memorial service will be held at the Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo, WA on March 8th at 1pm. Inurnment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA.
