Kris Obituary (1964

Kristian "Kris" Milburn Cate of Kingston, Washington passed away September 1, 2021, after a fierce brief battle with cancer. Kris was born December 3, 1964, and grew up in Porterville, CA. He attended Porterville High School and Porterville College. He married Lesli Anne Hood on March 3, 1990, at Ducor First Baptist Church in California. He joined the US Navy in September 1989, and they were soon stationed in Charleston, South Carolina and then Guam. Kris and Lesli lived in several places after he left the Navy including Prescott, Arizona: Shell Beach, California and Bend, Oregon. They resided in Kingston, Washington from 2014 until his passing. Kris was a Welder for decades and worked in the aerospace industry and for the Department of the Navy. He was stationed at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan; Trident Refit Facility Bangor, Washington and most recently at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Washington. Kris loved to travel and especially enjoyed trips to Norway to visit his mom and Norwegian family. He and Lesli adored the ocean and have wonderful memories of spending time on the beaches of Pismo CA, Pacific City, OR, Mexico and Costa Rica. He cherished the time spent with his beautiful granddaughters. He was an avid homebrewer and made much of his own equipment. More than anything, he loved just spending time with Lesli and their dog Barley. Kris' family and friends will miss him immensely. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lesli; mother Hanna Johansen Cate; daughter Kristal Little; son-in-law Jeff Little; granddaughters Emma and Maddy Davey; and sister Rhonda Lisbon. When he married, he was blessed with five additional siblings and two parents and has nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Chester Milburn Cate. In the short months of his illness, he grew closer to the Lord, which brought him much hope, strength, and peace. John 11:25-26: "Jesus said... 'I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die..." At his request, no service is planned.
