Ken Anthony Obituary (1944

Ken passed away peacefully on Nov 3, 2008 in Bremerton after a nine year battle with cancer. With courage, humor and optimism he was able to have a wonderful retirement. Ken was born on September 16, 1944 to Howard and Vivian (McAboy) Anthony. He grew up on Erland's Point and attended Central Kitsap High School. He joined the Air Force in 1963, where he received his GED and was honorably discharged in 1967. On March 9, 1983 he married Beverly (Reves) in Kauai, HI. He worked many jobs until he found the best job in the world as a firefighter for the Bremerton Fire Department in 1971. He loved the job and his firefighter friends. In 1999, he retired, to live his dream of taking his boat, the Nordic Maid, to Southeast Alaska. He spent nine summers fishing, crabbing, and shrimping with his family and friends. He hunted in Montana in the fall and took his dog Ole to Oregon to hunt birds in the winter. He truly loved life. He is preceded in death by his mother and his best friend Ed Benson. He is survived by his wife Beverly, father Howard; sons Randy (Barb) Beck, Steve (Melinda), Rod, former son-in-law Juan Masos, daughter Kelli; brothers Chuck, Alan (Vicki) and Bruce; grandchildren, Kirsten and Cameron Anthony and five other grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Sons of Norway in Poulsbo and the American Legion in Sitka, AK. Our family would like to thank Hospice of Kitsap County for their loving care and support. We ask that donations be made in celebration to Ken's life. A memorial is planned, Nov. 29, 2008, 1-4 PM at Kiana Lodge, 14976 Sandy Hook Rd. NE, Poulsbo, WA.
