Kathryn V. Denson

–

Poulsbo, Washington

Kathryn Denson, 84, of Hansville, died July 7, 2008 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. Kathryn was born in Whitesboro, TX to Milliard and Myrtle Varley. She graduated from Whiteboro High School and attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University. During World War II she worked for the FBI in Washington D.C. She married L.V. (Red) Denson, also from Whitesboro, on March 4, 1946. In Red and Kathryn's 62-year marriage, they lived in Maryland, San Diego, San Francisco, Vallejo, Honolulu, Guam, Port Orchard, and Hansville. They have a son, David, of Tubac, AZ, and daughter, Linda Coburn (son-in-law Dan), of Gresham, OR. There are five grandchildren and twin great-grandchildren. Additionally she leaves behind many close friends and neighbors.

Kathryn's job, as she saw it, was homemaker for her family. She ran a "tight ship" at home when Red was deployed during his naval service. One of Kathryn's favorite memories was a 12-month retirement trip around the U.S. and Canada and then helping to build their dream retirement home overlooking the Hood Canal. Upon becoming a full time resident of Hansville, Kathryn was an integral part of the Hansville Community Center's Neighbors' Program.

There will be a reception here at the Hansville Community Center following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, Red suggests memorial contributions be made to the Hansville Ladies Aid who are hosting today's reception.
