Generous. Kind. Witty. Loyal. Brother. Friend.
After a brave fight with cancer, Jordan Reed left his earthly body on Oct 29th with his sister by his side, just as they were so often together growing up.
Jordan was born on June 11, 1967 in West Seattle, the youngest of three children of Lyle and Mitsuko Reed. He attended Genesee Elementary, Madison Junior and Cleveland High School. He had an early love for animals, raising ducks, chicks, hamsters, and birds.
Many of us are beneficiaries today of his early artistic talents - he followed his passion attending the Seattle Art Institute after high school. He also loved the fine arts, attending the Symphony and Ballet, but not at the exclusion of his love for 80's music!
The majority of Jordan’s professional life was with the Boeing Employees Credit Union where he wore many hats over the years, using his wide knowledge of the credit union's inner workings to help new employees and customers alike be successful. He made friends in many departments with his quick, sarcastic wit and big heart, always willing to help someone in need.
For the last 30 years Jordan bred and competed with Basenjis under the Atarasi kennel name. These small, independent hounds have a sense of mischief that matched Jordan's well – several Atarasi Basenjis were awarded big show wins, including the Basenji Club of Canada’s National Specialty won by his girl “Dot” in 2001.
Jordan was an active member of the Basenji Club of America, frequently ensuring the “Top 20” competition was the gala of the annual gathering of Basenji folks. Closer to home, Jordan was on the Board of the Evergreen Basenji Club more often than not since 1996.
Jordan loved to cook, sharing baked gifts with those he loved, as well as handmade dog beds or stained glass pieces, or car repairs, or home remodels. He was a man of many talents and endless generosity - he has left his mark!
Jordan is survived by brother George, sister Lena, brother-in-law Todd, long-time dear friend Andy, and dozens and dozens of friends all over the world.
Jordan wished he could have gathered all his friends together - We invite you to share a memory or upload a photo to his memorial page.
