Jodie Lynn Warthen Obituary (1977

Jodie Lynn Warthen, 32, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 14, at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton after a long battle with kidney disease. Jodie was born March 3, 1977 in St. Louis, MO, to Larry and Gloria (Veskrna) Warthen. As a member of a Navy family, she lived in St. Louis, MO; Oahu, HI; North Stonington, CT; and Naples, Italy; before moving to Seabeck. Jodie attended Central Kitsap High School and Olympic College. A gifted artist since childhood, Jodie displayed her work at art shows in Bremerton, Silverdale, Poulsbo, and Port Townsend. She created art in a variety of mediums including watercolor, oil, collage, and mixed-media. Jodie also enjoyed beading and jewelry making. Physically and mentally Jodie felt better because of art. Her hopes and dreams were better because of art. Art was her life, and hopefully her story and dreams will inspire others to follow their dreams. Jodie is survived by her parents, Larry and Gloria of Seabeck; paternal grandmother, Mary Lois Warthen of Omaha, NE; brothers Chris (Aimee) Warthen of Bremerton, and Callan Warthen of Las Vegas, NV. She is also survived by her nieces, Claire and Alison Warthen of Bremerton; two aunts; seven uncles; and many cousins. She is preceded in death by her beloved Chihuahua, Bubba. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 20 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Bremerton. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, May 21 at Silverdale Lutheran Church in Silverdale, with a visitation at 2:00 p.m. followed by a service celebrating Jodie's life at 3:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the church. Jodie was a courageous, strong and gifted young lady who added color and inspiration to the people she touched throughout her life. She was a jewel and a precious child of God who is now with her heavenly father for all eternity. Jodie loved all living creatures, especially dogs.
