Janel Rae Caldwell Obituary (1950

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend, Janel Rae Caldwell, on September 13, 2024, in Silverdale, Washington, at the age of 73. Born on December 5, 1950, in Moorhead, Minnesota, to Harry and Evelyn (Haglund) Ingebretson, Janel grew up with a zest for life that touched all who knew her. Janel graduated from Palo Verde High School in Blythe, California. She spent over 15 years working as an insurance agent before transitioning into retail, where she thrived for the last nine years of her career. Janel found joy in many aspects of life. She loved shopping, cheering on her favorite sports teams--the San Francisco Giants and 49ers--and had a deep affection for animals, fashion, and cooking. Music was a constant presence in her life, especially live concerts, which she adored attending. Janel cherished time spent with family and friends, and she treasured the memories made on the Colorado River. Janel is survived by her daughter, Leslie Lomeli of Port Ludlow, Washington; her son, Christopher Caldwell of San Jose, California; her sisters, Gervae Arnold and Christine Hanna, both of Silverdale, Washington; her niece, Melanie Walker of Gig Harbor, Washington; her lifelong friends of over 50 years, Steve and Janice Dir of Blythe, California; and her beloved kitty, KalleKat. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Evelyn Ingebretson. Janel will be remembered for her intelligence, beauty, and magnetic personality that made everyone want to be around her. She was fun-loving, the life of the party, and always thoughtful--putting the needs of others before her own. Her radiant spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know her. Memorial contributions can be made in Janel's name to ECAN or the Kitsap Humane Society.
