Isabelle Olson

–

Poulsbo, Washington

Isabelle M. Olson, 94, of Poulsbo, Washington, passed away Thursday May 29 at the Martha & Mary Nursing Home. She was born May 17, 1931 in Port Townsend to Reinhardt P. Walz and the former Jessie “Daisy” M. Jones, as the third of four children. Through her mother, Isabelle was a member of the Tlingit tribes of Alaska, while her father’s parents came to the United States from Wiesbaden, Germany in the 1860s. She was named for her maternal grandmother, Isabella Reed.

A talented artist, Isabelle was a graduate of the Cornish College of Arts in Seattle. She enjoyed painting, listening to country music, and collecting anything featuring The Peanuts characters; her favorite was Charlie Brown’s pet beagle, Snoopy. She loved collecting magazines, old newspapers and listening to vinyl records on her mother’s old-fashioned standing record player, which required a hand crank to function.

Isabelle is survived by her brother, Richard P. Walz (Rosalee), her daughters, Linda Olson (Ron), Lori Olson and Lea Olson (Robert), four grandchildren (Raven, Matthew, Bobbi and Melissa), and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her niece, Eileen Magnuson (Johnny), great-niece Electra Magnuson (Nick), nephew Robert 'Bobby' Fenn, and best friend, Sandy Lum.

Isabelle is preceded in death by her husband, James R. Olson, her parents, her brother Reinhardt, and her sister Phyllis.

We want to acknowledge the excellent care provided to Isabelle by the nurses and aides at Martha and Mary Nursing Home in Poulsbo.

There will be no funeral services. Instead, a celebration of life will be held at Isabelle’s home at a later date. Per her request, Isabelle was laid to rest beside her late husband at Evergreen-Washelli Memorial Cemetery in Seattle.
