Gertrude Peppers

–

Port Orchard, Washington

With a heart steeped in kindness and a spirit as bright as her namesake flower, Gertrude Peppers (née Brown) departed from this world on August 15, 2026. Born on December 31, 1933, in Baker City, Oregon, Gertrude's life journey led her to a beautiful tenure in Ocala, Florida, where she nurtured not just her family, but also the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to cross her path.

Gertrude's life was a testimony to the verse, "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6). This was evident from her early years as a Sunday school teacher, a role that eventually led her to the love of her life, Earl. Their whirlwind romance culminated in a loving marriage just six weeks after they met, and they began to build a family that would become Gertrude's pride and joy. Her love was not confined to her biological offspring, as she became a beacon of motherly affection to numerous children in her community. This fact was a testament to her endless capacity for love and her belief that every child deserved to feel cherished.

Gertrude's legacy is carried forward by her children, John Peppers, Sharon Devine, and Linda Hensley, who remember her as a woman of unwavering faith and unconditional love. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Mabel Brown, and her beloved son, Steven Peppers. The void left by Gertrude's passing will be felt deeply by all those who knew her, but her spirit will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched.

We invite you to celebrate Gertrude's life by sharing your memories of her on the online memorial page. Your stories, anecdotes, and photos will help keep her vibrant spirit alive in our hearts. As you remember Gertrude, may you be reminded of her love, her grace, and her unwavering faith in the goodness of people.
