Filbert Lorenzo Flores Jr. Obituary (1971

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our brother Filbert Lorenzo Flores after fighting a long illness. He passed away on October 30, 2023, at the age of 51 in Bremerton, Washington. Lorenzo, or Boy as he was called by family and friends was born on November 30, 1971, to his parents Filbert and Patricia Flores in Bremerton, Washington. Lorenzo spent his childhood on Bainbridge Island living on his family's (Tabafunda) property. He was baptized and received First Communion at St. Cecilia's Parish on Bainbridge Island. He also performed the role of altar server and acted in the church's Christmas Eve play. In 1990 he graduated from Bainbridge High School as the Class Vice President. Shortly thereafter he joined the United States Navy. He had many fond memories of his overseas deployments. After his service in the Navy, he returned to the Seattle area where he began working as a technician at CenturyLink from which he retired. During that time, he started a family and met his wife, Barbara. They lived in Bremerton for a while and then he and his family moved to Raton, New Mexico, to be closer to his father, Filbert. After seven years in Raton, they returned to the Seattle area and settled in Suquamish, Washington. Lorenzo loved to dance and be the life of the party. We all appreciated his great sense of humor and his ability to make everyone laugh. He loved to travel with his family, garden, go to the casino and dabble in politics. He was proud of his involvement in politics while living in Raton as well as the time he served on the Board of Governance for the Filipino American Community of Bainbridge Island and Vicinity. Lorenzo was preceded in death by his grandparents Paul and Virginia Tabafunda, Leo and Beatrice Flores, his parents Filbert and Patricia Flores and his sister Sarita Flores. He is survived by his by wife Barbara Huffman; his children Renzo Flores, Isaiah Huffman, Amaya Flores, and Terresa Flores; his siblings Theresa Flores, Charlene [Gerry] Anderson, his twin Consuelo [Kevin] Davis, Ralph Flores, and Carl Flores; and his two grandchildren, Alexander, and Alice (Amaya's kids). Lorenzo's services will be held at St. Cecilia's church on Bainbridge Island on November 13, 2023, viewing 9:30am, Rosary 10:30am, and mass 11am, then burial at Seabold Cemetery on Bainbridge Island. A celebration of life luncheon is planned at the Filipino American Community Hall on Bainbridge Island. Funeral arrangements entrusted to The Stone Chapel Poulsbo Mortuary in Poulsbo, Washington.
