Bremerton, Washington
Etta Carey, 85, of Bremerton died Sunday from cancer. Etta was born in Tenino, WA to Floyd L. Orwiler and Lucy M. Orwiler (Brewer) and was the sixth of nine children. She attended Silverdale High School and graduated in 1946. She married Les Carey in August of 1948 and they were happily married for 56 1/2 years before Les passed away in 2005.
Etta was mostly a "stay at home " mom but did work at the Salvation Army for a short time. She was a truly sweet person, full of laughter, who never had a bad word to say about anyone. Everyone was always welcome in her home and many people thought of her as a second mom. She loved her family more than anything.
Her parents, three brothers, two sisters and her only son (James), preceded her in death. Surviving are her three daughters, Noreen Badgley (Bill) of Phoenix, AZ, Christine Bell (Michael) of Bremerton and Marlene Christensen (Mark) of Port Orchard; her daughter in-law Sally of Bremerton, nine grandchildren, Billy, Michele, Matthew, Kyle, Dustin, Leon, Brent, Tim and Nicole; seven great grandchildren, Kelsey, McKena, Kendall, Ashlyn, Marlie, Riley, Emma, Jonah and one great-great grandchild, Cylus. She also leaves behind one sister and two brothers and a very large extended family of nieces and nephews.
At her request, no service is planned. She was cremated and her ashes will be added to the urn with her husband and they will be buried together this summer.
