Eric was born in Bellevue, WA on August 20, 1968. His family moved to West Paducah, KY when he was four and he remained there until he graduated high school, with honors, and joined the United States Military. Eric also earned his Bachelor's degree in Theology. Eric honorably served in the US Navy from 1987 through 1995, this included wartime service during the Persian Gulf War and he will receive full Military Honors at his memorial. He was stationed in Bremerton, WA at the time of his separation from the Navy, and although he went back to Kentucky, he ultimately decided to make Washington his home. Eric has worked in or around the Navy since turning 18 and most recently worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.

Eric met his beloved wife in 2006 and he made her the happiest woman in the world on July 1, 2009 when he took her as his bride. He built a life and home with her that was full of love and laughter, his greatest joy was being near her no matter what they were doing. Eric became a devoted and wonderful father to her two daughters, Tyla and Melissa, and raised them as his own, with love, gentleness, compassion and laughter. In turn they gave him four beautiful Grandson's, whom he absolutely adored. Eric walked into something broken and made it whole, making them a complete family with his generous heart that loved so deeply and unreservedly. He was so joyful watching Tyla grow from a beautiful little girl, who would climb on him like a jungle gym, into a wonderful mother and wife. Eric held Melissa tight through the tough times and loved her through the painful times and could not have been prouder of the amazing person and mother she has matured into. In 2011 Eric and his wife were blessed with their third Daughter, Emma, who came into this world early weighing only 4 lbs. 7 oz. and being delivered into her father's own loving hands. Eric cherished every minute with Emma and was truly amazed at her hearts capacity for love and compassion, he was overjoyed to see her grow into the beautiful, smart and loving young lady she is. In 2016 Tyla became Joseph's wife and Eric gained a devoted and loving son whom he loved and was so proud of. JR came to live with us just last year and became a huge help and dear friend, Eric so appreciated all the time and care that JR has given to our family. Eric and his wife met their daughter Tabutha when she was 14 and she quickly folded into their family, becoming a deeply loved daughter. They met their daughter Sadie and her daughter Mia when Sadie was 17, and they came to live with them. Eric and Angela were truly blessed to be able watch her grow and mature into the incredible woman she is and Eric was so very proud of her and everything she has accomplished.

Eric was happiest when all his family was under one roof, he loved being surrounded by his kids and grandkids. He loved camping and taking his family shooting. Eric was an avid reader and read 3-4 books a week, but his favorite book was the bible. He and his wife spent hours delving into scripture together and learning about the Lord together. Eric was an amazing storyteller and would often regale his wife with whatever funny story he had found that day to make her smile. Eric was a true jokester and was always quick with funny quips and hilarious one liners. He had the ability to turn the darkest days into bright sunny ones with his love and laughter. Eric was kind and gentle, he never forgot to kiss his wife when he got home from work or before bed, he was quick to hold you when you were hurting and always tried his hardest to fix the wrongs in life. Eric was a skilled carpenter and electrician and he and his wife enjoyed doing home improvement projects together.

In his own words, given to his wife on October 25, 2006, the day they shared their first kiss, this is how Eric lived his life:

Words I Live By

Love suffers long

Love is kind

Love does not envy

Love does not behave rudely

Love does not seek its own

Love is not provoked

Love bears all things

Love believes all things

Love hopes all things

Love endures all things

Love forgives all things

Love never fails

These things I promise to you, my love. Forever.

Eric kept every promise he made, and truly lived, loved and was so very loved.

Eric was truly a light of love in this world, and although those who knew and loved him wish for more time, we are all so very thankful for the beautiful years we were given with him. We give our praise and thankfulness to the Lord for showing us His love through Eric.
