Goodbye Papa. It went by so fast. Your steadfastness never wavered. Ernest W. Creelman, Bill - Papa. 62 years of marriage - of your and mom's devotions to each other - would prove to be a silent but rock solid statement of your commitment to your whole family. It never wavered. Your bond with mom gave us a security that would carry us through many trials in life, It was a buffer of security that gave us a strong footing to take the next step in life. A place of celebration when we were rejoicing, a place of solace when we hurt. You had a spiritual focus that left no doubt about your commitment to Christ, demonstrated by your 50-year integral involvement at Lincoln Avenue Bible Church. Yet this was a focus that was revealed by behavior - always reflecting Biblical standards that didn't waiver. Your model was occasionally through your words, but much more often the words were not necessary. Your path declared your faith with much more conviction. The way you spent your time with us, shouted our importance to you. While your many hobbies kept us interested in learning, they didn't replace your interest in us. Everywhere we turned as we grew up. We knew you would be there. School events would bring your inventions for fun. Always tinkering you would find some way to make something that would spice up the event - such as the simple "drive the nail in the board" challenge in grade school. That wasn't fun enough. You went on to "wire up the board" so the nail as it was driven to the hilt, would mysteriously electrify many flashing lights and a loud siren heard throughout the school carnival. Few would ever know, that a tiny switch hidden beneath the carpet under his foot would be the real culprit as the nail was driven deep. Then the time when one of us was ill, and the rest of the family was quarantined, you built a magnificent playhouse complete with a grandfather clock that had a secret compartment that was revealed when the clock was set to 1:00. You showed us life could carry a spark. Your industrious nature led you to complete medical school at Harvard while being in the Army. You then returned to join the family business, the Schutt Clinic, where you dedicated yourself to providing the highest level of medical care to many of the citizens of Bremerton. Decades of people telling us of their appreciation for the medical care you gave would further amplify your commitment to people and not money. Your dedication to the best care possible would show in their warm thanks. Yet you did this without being absent from the family. Dinner was always with you present, beginning with you thanking God for providing for our family. Your life has touched and imprinted on many, certainly your wife Shirley and four children, Jim (Pat), Paul (Patty), Cheryl (Garry) and Steve (Billie), but also your grandchildren Eric, Mark, Heidi, Teresa, Ben, Katie, Sarah, Jessica, Jeremy , Bethany, and will continue to impact your great-grandchildren Mackenzie and Ellie in your absence. A special thanks to Baypointe and Marine Court who provided consistent and compassionate care to our father and to Dr. Swift for overseeing this care. We love you Papa, we will always continue to love and miss you. Can't wait to see you on the other side. A memorial service will be held at Lincoln Ave. Bible Church, Bremerton, on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lincoln Ave. Bible Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
