David Albert Church
May 6, 1946 – August 13, 2026

David Albert Church passed away from cancer on August 13, 2026, with his family by his side. He was born on May 6, 1946, in Portland, Oregon, and throughout his life, family remained at the heart of everything he did.

David married Kathryn Verna Herbst on August 10, 1972. Over 54 years of marriage, they built a life together and raised their two sons, David and Joe.

David proudly served four years in the United States Navy’s submarine service. He later spent most of his career working as a corrections officer for Multnomah County, Oregon. When he had time to relax, he was happiest with a good book or an old movie.

His faith was an important part of his life. David was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and he and Kathryn had the special opportunity to serve together as missionaries in the Iowa Des Moines Mission.

David leaves behind his wife, Kathryn; his son David and daughter-in-law Julie, and their children, Charlie and Gwen; his son Joe and daughter-in-law Kari, and their children, Savannah, Wyatt, and Paul; and his brother, Ronald Church.

David will be dearly missed as a loving husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather. His family will remember his steady presence, the life they shared with him, and the many memories that will continue to bring them comfort.

David will be laid to rest at a graveside service at The Willamette National Cemetery in Happy Valley, Oregon on September 4, 2026, at 10am. There will be a memorial service The Church of Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 11070 Old Frontier Rd NW Silverdale, WA 98383 on September 5th, 2026, at 11am.
