Arleta C. (Card) Van Guilder Obituary (1922

Arleta was born in Lewiston, ID on October 17, 1922 to Charles and Leta Card and died on March 20, 2009 in Hansville, WA. She was married to Paul W. Van Guilder on June 30, 1941 in Coeur d'Alene, ID, who preceded her in death on February 1, 1998. She is survived by her children: Richard Van Guilder (Janice), Dee Ann Stiles (Wayne), Roy Van Guilder, Dean Van Guilder (Lynn) and Dona Kachele (David). She is also survived by her brother Donald Higby (Sherry), Sister-in-Law Marge Wright, 20 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and by numerous nieces and nephews. Arleta was an active member of the Hansville, WA Community; including the Hansville Community Church and the "Solaterians". As a member of the, the "Prayery Canaries" she yodeled, sang and played the harmonica. She also taught square dance to elementary students and coached the "Boot Scootin' Grannies". While living in Citrus Heights, CA she started a tap dancing group for seniors called the "Happy Tappers". She and her husband, Paul, became square dance callers during this time. She taught all of her children and many of her grand children to sing and dance. She was born to entertain, and through her entertainment, she made many people happy. A Celebration of Life Service for Arleta is scheduled for 2:00 PM Sunday, March 29, 2009 at The Greater Hansville Community Center at Buck Lake, 6959 Buck Lake Rd, Hansville, WA. A graveside service is planned for Sylvan Cemetery 7401 Auburn Blvd, Citrus Heights, CA. on Saturday, April 4, 2009 at 10:00 AM. Remembrances can be made to one of Arleta's favorite charities: North Kitsap Hospice, Children's Hospital, Seattle, WA or Harrison Hospital, Bremerton, WA.
