Poulsbo, Washington
Allen Dean McKibben, a spirited soul of Poulsbo, Washington, took his eternal rest on July 22, 2025. Allen was born on September 19, 1936, in Piedmont, Ohio, where his journey as a creative and generous individual began. His vibrant life of 88 years was marked by the admirable qualities of supportiveness, creativity, generosity, dedication and a love for family and community.
Allen’s journey took him from Piedmont, OH, to Norfolk, VA, and San Diego, CA, before he found his heart in Poulsbo, Washington, where he lived for 53 memorable years. His professional path led him to serve in the US Navy for 20 years, achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer II, from which he retired before joining the civilian sector. Allen then joined Hartford Insurance, as an Inspector, and finally retired after nearly 30 years. Allen was a man of many passions, including woodworking, socializing, and gardening where he became a Master Gardner in the state of Washington. He was an avid outdoorsman, who found peace in national parks and was intrigued by the history of the Southwest. His generous spirit shone through his willingness to help anyone in need and his enjoyment in teaching and volunteering.
Leaving behind a legacy of love and inspiration, Allen is survived by his sons Martin of Slymar, CA, Nickolas (and Kelly) of Waupaca, WI, and William "Aaron" (and Heather) of Buda, TX. He is also survived by his beautiful grandchildren, Sarah, Sam, Sean, Riley, and Emerie and one great granddaughter, Priscilla. Other surviving family includes his sister-in-law, Marianne "Suzi" Millward, and several dear nieces and nephews. He is also survived by very dear friends and neighbors, the Taylor & Klauda family. He now reunites in heavenly peace with his parents John and Melva, and beloved wife Shirley (née Elizeus). As the scripture says, "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." (Revelation 21:4)
In honor of Allen's life, we invite you to share your memories of him and upload photos to his memorial page. Your stories, pictures, and shared moments will keep the memory of Allen alive in our hearts, celebrating his remarkable life and the light he brought into ours.
There will be a memorial gathering with military honors for Allen and internment for both Allen and Shirley, at a future date at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI.
