Bremerton, Washington
Alice was born on May 8, 1939 to Ray and Emma Aulik of Antigo Wisconsin. She graduated from Antigo High School in 1957 and went on to study Pre-Med at The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Alice went on to raise a family living in several Cities around the country before moving to Bremerton in the 1960's.
Alice worked at the Boeing Developmental Center in Seattle during the SST Project and met her Husband John while commuting by Ferry back and forth. The two of them would eventually marry on July 19, 1969 and move to their home in Central Valley to raise their family. Alice left Boeing and eventually worked for the Washington state Department of Employment Security in Bremerton where she worked until 1975.
At this point in her life she became very active in the Silverdale Pee-Wee's volunteering her time to help develop what is now Ross Field in Silverdale. She also was recording Secretary for the pee wee association as well as the score keeper for several games. Her husband John who was a coach, umpire and referee at this time kept them both very busy and active in their community. All of their children also competed in youth sports and Alice NEVER missed a game.
In the 1980's Alice became active in the Christian Women's Club with her best friend Sue where they would make seasonal arrangements and decorations for their meetings each month.
Alice enjoyed being creative. From making hand made Christmas ornaments for her Children and Great Grandchildren to knitting and sewing, she always kept busy. Alice was an accomplished Seamstress, and no more did her creativity shine, than when she was at her sewing machine. She made everything from hand made dolls to quilts and beyond. She spent many years creating one of a kind wedding dresses and ensembles, many times for brides on a very limited budget. Alice would pour her heart and sole into everyone of her creations no matter what the budget, never charging what her time was really worth. Its just who she was. Alice also would work part-time for Kitsap Sports as their Alteration expert repairing, rebuilding or altering everything from bikini's to Ski suits. this was her forte'. She could fix just about anything.
As Alice's eye sight began to fail, she sewed less and enjoyed her hobbies more. She enjoyed working in her yard, tending to her flowers and always finding projects that needed to be done. This always kept her very busy and feeling "useful ", as she often put it. Collecting Barbie Dolls became not only a hobby but a bit of an obsession for Alice. She would spend hours searching thrift stores and garage sales looking for dolls. She would then would bring them home, wash them up, dress them in their original outfits and catalog them. She had a gift of bringing her dolls "back to life" making them look almost as good as new.
Alice also continued to love youth sports throughout the years but never more than when her Grandsons played Baseball and Football. These were her favorites. Whether it was to watch "her boys" play or just yell at the officials, she never missed a step and seldom missed a game home or away. High school Football was a passion for her even following the standings until her final days, always shaking her head and wondering how "they" pulled it out.
Alice will always be missed greatly by the many of us who have been touched by her. Her talents were many and her heart was forever giving and for that we will be forever grateful.
