Maryellen Heald Obituary (1927

Maryellen Heald, 95, of Bremerton, passed away on December 31, 2022. Born on August 27, 1927 in Monroe, WA to William and Genevieve (Devereux) Broughton, Maryellen went on to graduate from Monroe High School, and later, from the University of Washington receiving a BA in Home Economics and Washington State Teaching Certificate. Maryellen married William Heald on September 18, 1949 in Monroe, WA. She was a devoted teacher who retired after 26 years. Maryellen was a member of Kitsap Golf & Country Club and Silverdale Lutheran Church, who in her spare time enjoyed golf, reading as part of a local book club, and rooting for local sports teams, especially the UW Huskies, Seahawks and Mariners. She volunteered at Silverdale Lutheran Church with quilters, and helped prepare hearty meals up until the last few years. Maryellen is preceded in death by her spouse, William; and parents. Maryellen's memory will live on with her sons, Steve of Seattle, WA, Ron (Deb) of Poulsbo, WA, Scott (Eloise) of Seattle, WA; daughter, Leanne Heald of Lacey, WA; sister, Betty VanGelder of Monroe, WA; 3 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. A private graveside service was held at Forest Lawn Cemetery on January 12, 2023.
