Kelly K. Olson Obituary (1962

Kelly passed away peacefully on August 10, 2018 with her husband, Dan, by her side. She was born June 1, 1962 in Seattle, WA to Robert and Judy Wegner. She was raised on a ranch in Puyallup. Kelly spent her earliest days on the rodeo circuit with her parents who competed and worked in the rodeo world. Kelly was proud to call her dad a World Champion Bullrider. It is said that Kelly can be remembered as the cutest little girl riding her paint horse around like an Indian. She is also remembered for being one tough little girl and a heck of a rider and as her friends describe her, you learned to never make her mad unless you could outrun her. In her late teens she trained race horses but rodeo was her passion. She drove stock trucks for Christenson Brother's and Vold Rodeo Company and always helped out where needed at the rodeos whether it was with the rough stock, timing or wrangling up some unruly cowboys. Kelly was well known for her trick riding and was described as a ruby that stands out in a box of Cracker Jacks! Kelly married Dan Olson on December 17, 1988. They had two children, Kathleen Rae and Robert Scott. She supported her children in their wrestling and rodeo. She was their biggest fan and if they needed a thump on the head or a tug on the neck hair she was there to do it. The funniest thing is when she would whistle, all you had to do was stand there and within a couple minutes Robbie would come running up asking his mom what she needed. Kelly enjoyed the company of the rough stock riders at the junior rodeos and they looked up to Kelly, many were there with her by her bedside in her last days. Kelly was a caretaker of people and helped take care of Leonard and Shirley Olson in their older years and was a caretaker of Carol Blakeslee until Kelly was diagnosed with cancer. Kelly loved family time. Her favorite holiday was Easter, she loved to hide eggs and would hide the "Golden" egg and that one would get the grand prize!!! Now we know why she was so good at making deviled eggs!! Kelly enjoyed the simple things in life, she loved her bubble baths with candles, her crab fondue and she was always so excited when she could find some shoes that were a little more grown up because she had to shop in the children's department since her feet were so small. As time went on Kelly was not able to talk much but she sure did get the hang of texting and she knew more emoji's than anybody I know. She will be missed for her little messages she would send to everyone. Kelly is survived by her husband of 29 years Dan Olson, daughters Kari and Kathleen, son, Robbie, grandson Xander, her mother Judy and stepfather Dan Ackley, two sisters and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held on September 1st, 2018 at Lewis Funeral Chapel, Bremerton, WA at 12 o'clock noon. There will be a gathering afterwards at Leonard and Shirley Olson's home, address will be available at the service.
