Glinder Juel Simpson Obituary (1948

Our beloved Glinder Juel Williams was born on October 9, 1948 in San Bernardino, CA to Ester V. Williams and Lou England Wilson. She was the eldest of 7 children: Mary, Keith, LaJanese, Shirley, and Anthony and Dwayne, her two surviving siblings. She attended Balboa High School, where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Robert "Bobby" Simpson, Jr. from whose union came their children Robert Simpson, III and Elizabeth Simpson. From her early years, "Glinda" loved to dance, travel, play jacks, fashion and party. And boy, did she know how to throw a party, earning her the title "Hostess with the Mostess"! Not to omit, she was an exceptional cook. Her strong work ethic was emphasized by her receiving an AA Business Degree from Heald Business College in San Francisco, CA. as well her 30 plus years as a waitress, an Executive Secretary, and as co-Owner of O.M.I. Trucking School. Of all the things Glinder loved, her love for God was unwavering and true. She was a pivotal member of Center of Hope Community Church in Oakland, CA. under Bishop E.C. Reems. In 1992, she relocated to Bremerton, WA. where she found her family in Christ at Emmanuel Apostolic Church under Bishop Lawrence Robertson. If anything can be said about her character, Glinder was indeed selfless and nurturing. This was exemplified by her numerous roles in the church and her work in the medical field as a licensed in-home care nurse. In recent months, Glinder was finally ready and able to retire, basking in the fruits of her labor. She even purchased a passport to begin her international travels. She understood the beauty of her own heart, putting others before herself - but recognized she needed and deserved to treat herself like the Queen we all know her to be. On the morning of January 6, 2019 at approximately 8 a.m., God called her home to embark on the greatest trip of her life; no passport needed (pun-intended). She is survived by her children, Robert, Elizabeth and daughter-in-law Carita, her 8 grandchildren, her honorary children, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, near and far.
