Ernest "Ernie" Joseph Uffens Obituary (1949

Ernest Joseph Uffens, 65, of Bremerton, passed away on October 10, 2015. Ernie was born on November 20, 1949 in Baltimore, MD to LeGrand and Lucille (Gleave) Uffens. He attended UC Davis and graduated as a Doctor of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Fullerton, CA. Ernie, served honorably in the US Navy and retired after 23 years. After retiring as an Optometrist in the Navy, Ernie went on to work as an Optometrist at the PSNS Clinic. In his spare time, Ernie, enjoyed growing dahlias, water skiing, and at one point in his life, was an All-American swimmer. He is preceded in death by one son, Todd Uffens; brother, Johnny Uffens; and parents. Ernie's memory will live on with his loving wife of 42 years, Julie; son, Nathan (Mindy); daughters, Tracy and Emily (T.J.); daughter-in-law, Christine; sisters, Janet McKibben and Barbara Bartholomew (Dennis); grandchildren, Lauren, Ethan, Tyler, Nolan, Sophia, Kenton, Ellanor, Everly and Bennett. A memorial service will be held at the Church of Latter-Day Saints, located on Nels Nelson road, Friday, October 16th at 3pm. Interment will be private at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
