Edward David Roe Obituary (1930

Edward David Roe was born November 26, 1930, in Stanley, Wisconsin, son of Edwin and Lula (Marvick) Roe. He was baptized and confirmed in Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and graduated from Stanley Public Schools (1948). He attended St. Olaf College (1952) and Luther Theological Seminary (1956). He served as chaplain in the US Air Force, and as pastor in Baker, MT, Seattle, WA, and Gig Harbor, WA. He married Charlotte Straub, his wife of 62 years, in Eureka, SD (1954). To this union were born six children: Susan (Bruce Ramsey: Synneva, Elin, Edward, Henry), Mary (Ralph Minor: Paul, Charlotte), Kaaren (Mark Hicks: Laurel, Kevin), Ann Louise Kingston, Theodore (Margie Nee' Ferguson: Margaret, Fergus, Lars), Paul (Heidi nee' Metz: Eric, Matthew, Annika). In retirement he and Charlotte lived in Gig Harbor and Silverdale, WA. He died at home on March 13, 2016. He is also survived by his sister Helen Warren, Peoria, AZ and brother Paul Roe, Bloomington, MN. Our father was intelligent, honest, loyal and wise. He read and was knowledgeable and articulate on a wide variety of topics. We often sought his opinion and advice. He had a playful side and a dry wit. He excelled at board and card games and for the past 16 years played online bridge daily with friends across the world. Each of us knew that he loved us deeply
