Chad Anderson Obituary (1980

Chad Anderson unexpectedly passed away on 28 August 2015 at the young age of 35. He was born 24 January 1980 in Mons, Belgium at SHAPE Headquarters. He graduated from CK High School in 1998. Before joining the Navy he worked at Whiskey Creek Steak House as a dish washer and worked his way up to Cook. He joined the Navy in 1999 and enlisted for submarine duty. After a ten day dependent cruise with his Dad, Grandfather and Uncle, Chad realized that the surface Navy wasn't for him. During is tenure in the Navy he was assigned to the following commands USS NEVADA (Blue), Bangor, Naval Base Groton, CT, and then to the USS CHARLETTE in Hawaii. He attended Mess Management Specialist "A" school and enrolled in a college course at Olympic College for Culinary Specialist. He received the following awards: 3 Navy Achievement Medals, Pistol Sharpshooter Ribbon, Deterrent Patrol Pin for 5 patrols, 4 Good Conduct Medals along with various other awards He leaves behind a wife (Minda) and two beautiful boys (Luke) and (Daniel) who are both special needs. He was recently hired to work at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Shop 99. The family recently moved into a new house and was still in the process of unpacking. Always thinking about his family first, he dedicated his off time to be a Special Olympics Coach and coached his own children, as well as many others. He was very selfless and always wanting to help others in need. He is survived by his Wife, their two boys, his parents Walter (Andy) and Sue, Sister Tiffany and Sean Sutterfield and nephew Aiden. Also his in-laws Dan and Kathy South, brother/sister in law Cliff and Karissa South and Dawn South. Survivors also include grandmother and many uncles, aunts, great uncles and aunts and lots of cousins.
