Bernard ''Barney'' Cline Thomson Obituary (1918

Bernard "Barney" Cline Thomson of Gig Harbor, Washington passed away after a long battle with cancer on October 4, 2003 at Cottesmore Nursing Home in Gig Harbor. He was 85 years of age. He was born on January 25, 1918 in Halkirk, Alberta, Canada to Arthur and Ethel (Kent) Thomson. He graduated from Edmonds High School in Edmonds, Washington in 1936. He went on to serve in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. He married Lillian E. Erstad on February 2, 1941 in Bremerton, Washington. He was a business manager and owner of several businesses in Bremerton. He was a member of Bremerton Lodge #117 F. & A.M., a 33 Scottish Rite Mission. He was also an active member of the committee on the Scottish Rite Center for Childhood Language Disorders, a 60-year member of the Elks Club, Navy League, Chamber of Commerce, Board of Adjustment for Kitsap County, and the Bremerton Yacht Club. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time in Hemet, California. Survivors include sons Thomas C. Thomson of Surprise, Arizona and Norman D. Thomson of Bainbridge Island, Washington; daughters Ruth A. Jensen of Palm Desert, California, Linda L. Crutcher of Salem, Oregon, and Lorraine I. Turnley of Gig Harbor; brothers Bert Thomson of Everett, Washington and Dave Thomson of Edmonds; sisters Jean Holt of Everett, Pat Wilson of Corvallis, Oregon, and Betty Triplett of Silverdale, Washington; and companion Elise Leggett of Bremerton. 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren also survive him. Brothers Merle Johnson, Valentine, and Robert Thomson precede him in death. A celebration of his life will be held at the Bremerton Masonic Temple on October 13, 2003 at 2:00 PM.
